#ReleaseTheAyerCut Trending As Fans Push For 'Suicide Squad' Director's Cut

It's pretty much universally agreed that 2016's Suicide Squad was not good, despite having a usually-great director and a solid cast, with Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Will Smith as Deadshot, and Jared Leto as the Joker.

Director David Ayer has always contended that the movie released in theaters was not the movie he made. Executives at Warner Bros. are said to have taken the edit away from him and brought in a company that does splashy trailers to cut it down and make the tone more like Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. Apparently the original version was much longer and took time to develop the characters. Leto's Joker was mostly removed from the film.

Fans have been pushing hard for Warner Bros. to release the director's cut of the movie on HBO Max. A recent fan campaign for Justice League succeeded and the "Snyder Cut" of that film will premiere on the streaming service sometime next year.

The director himself is now adding fuel to the fire, releasing a script page for a deleted scene on social media to give fans a taste of his vision for the movie.

What do you think? Would a longer version of Suicide Squad with more Joker and Harley stuff get you to pay for HBO Max?
