Sony Walkman Celebrates 40 Years

The original portable music player, Sony Walkman celebrates 40 years and this makes me feel very old. I remember when Walkmans with the little fuzzy headphones that always had one side that stopped working unless you wiggled the wire just right first came out and you weren't cool unless you had one. A radio and cassette player that you could take with you on a jog back in the 80s was extremely convenient, until the batteries started to die and the tape you were listening to started slowing and the singing got deeper and deeper until it stopped. Then you switch over to the radio which took less juice, so you could listen to that for a little longer until the batteries were totally exhausted.

Then came the portable CD players and the MiniDisc players. I thought that was the end of Walkman, I did not know they were still around. Good thing Sony put out this 40th Anniversary video!
