I remember seeing commercials like the one below for when the Magnum XL-200 first opened back in 1989. It broke all kinds of records at the time as far as roller coasters go and it was pretty impressive that first time riding it. Now the ride is turning 30 year-old this year. That first year it opened, you had to wait in line for hours to ride. With all the other newer rides that have opened over the years, the wait time is usually not bad at all for the Magnum XL-200 anymore and it is still a worthy ride. There have been some changes to the ride since it first opened, but the tunnels, fog, lighting and futuristic music that had been taken away is making a return this year.
Another less impressive coaster is also celebrating a milestone birthday. The Cedar Creek Mine Ride is turning 50! This was the first roller coast I ever rode on. But I wasn't around when it first opened so at least there is that. Read more here: https://www.cedarpoint.com/blog/finishing-touches
