So there is a huge indoor dirt racing event going on this weekend at the The Dome At America's Center in St. Louis. It is the 3rd Annual Gateway Dirt Nationals and features the best of the best when it comes to dirt late model, modified and midget racing. Former and current NASCAR stars such as Tony Stewart, Kenny Wallace, Kasey Kahne, Kyle Larson, Christopher Bell, JJ Yeley and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. will be competing.
The three-day event kicked off last evening with the Race of Champions which was won by our very own Rusty Schlenk whose hometown is McClure, OH in Wood County. Schlenk has racked up dirt late model championships and feature wins at tracks all over the area including an unprecedented six track championships at Wauseon, Ohio's Oakshade Raceway. Rusty was our guest on the Hammer Down Racing Report podcast just before leaving for St. Louis.
