2018 Cross Country State Championship Postponed

Please forgive me a bit as I have chosen to do a post to kind of brag about my son. If you are a father you can probably understand. Today I was supposed to be in Hebron, Ohio at National Trail Raceway, which is a drag strip, not for seeing who was fastest in the quarter mile, but for who was fastest in the 3.1 mile otherwise known as 5K. It was supposed to be the end of my son's high school cross country career as he is a senior and has made it to the state championship for the second consecutive year, but due to flooding on the cross country course, OHSAA officials decided to postpone the event to next Saturday which extended the season an extra week for all those athletes who have made it to this elite level.

Running for Sylvania Southview, my son and a fellow teammate both individually qualified for state after they both finished in the top 10 last weekend at the regional championship in Tiffin in division 1 competition. It was bittersweet though as they missed out on making it as a team by coming up one spot short in the final standings behind Ashland, Whitmer and Perrysburg. Overall it was a great season for the boys with a new coach for this season that kept the team motivated.

Good luck next weekend to both Cameron and Brendan (they are the guys with the awesome orange socks in the pics below)!
