So each year my son and I (and usually a group of other friends and family members) travel down to West Virginia to do some white water rafting on the New River. We have been doing this for about 10 years now and this past week, it was just my son and I. We camp out overnight a couple nights and spend one day braving the white water of the lower New River in West Virginia's scenic New River Gorge. It is a fun way for an adrenaline junky like myself to unwind and relax in the calm water sections where you can jump out and swim, and then there is still the excitement of class 5 rapids to get your heart rate up.
If you ever get a chance and want a big thrill, I highly recommend the Gauley River in the fall when they open up the dam for some extreme white water action. I have only gotten to do that one a couple times. Also, ask for Dylan to be your guide if you go through River Expeditions. He is a pretty cool dude.
