So racing season is now in full swing and the first of the two Michigan International Speedway Monster Energy Cup Events is right around the corner, but where has NASCAR's audience/fan base gone and why have they left? This CNBC video offers a bit on interesting insight into the recent decline in NASCAR's popularity. It seems there is a combination of reasons (template cars, new race format rules, etc.) why the sport has struggled recently, but one of the more intriguing ideas from this video is about the series expanding to new tracks and leaving some of their core audience behind when they abandoned some tracks in the South. Seems like even though there is a decline, there is still money to be made in a possible sale that was hinted at a few weeks ago.
