I have been looking forward to this possible round two match up all season. The Toledo Walleye will be taking on the Ft. Wayne Komets with game one of the best of seven series tonight at the Huntington Center. This rivalry is especially fun for me because although I have been a Toledo hockey fan since the Storm days, growing up out in Bryan, Ohio I was a Ft. Wayne Komets fan as a kid. I remember going to many games in the 80's at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. I still have a foam Komet Hockey "We're Number One" hand from those days when their colors were orange and dark blue (now they are orange and brown). Although I still hold on to that foam hand, my loyalties are fully behind our Toledo Walleye. I am ultimately a fan of good hockey and that is what these two teams bring to the table. Both cities have dedicated fan bases and the relative close proximity means fans from both teams will be at all the games, but I am sure the Toledo fans will be the loudest as they were even in Kalamazoo. The intensity level of the games between these two teams were at a playoff levels during the regular season. So I am looking forward to an amped up series that hopefully doesn't go the full seven games with the Toledo Walleye advancing to the next round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs. Don't forget, you can listen to all the action on air and online on sister station Fox Sports 1230.
