So as you may or may not know, I am the track announcer at Oakshade Raceway out near Wauseon, Ohio and have been since the turn of the century (that makes me sound really old). I also race a stock car out there when I can find some announcing help. One thing that hasn't happened since the very early 2000s is sprint car racing at Oakshade Raceway. The track did used to have a weekly 360 sprint car class, but it saw declining car counts and was phased out and is now primarily a dirt late model track.
I came across this video game footage and thought it was pretty cool to see some of the winged warriors back on the dirt at Oakshade. I didn't realize we had all those pine trees out in the fields of NW Ohio though. That was amusing. Other than that, the virtual version of Oakshade Raceway appears to be pretty accurate, orange tires and all.
With all the rain forecast for this weekend, I am anticipating that virtual racing will be the only racing taking place at Oakshade Raceway this weekend. Fingers crossed that the weather folks are wrong because I would much rather be out on the actual track, hammer down and breathing in the smell of racing fuel.
