An Ozzy Osbourne fan who's been petitioning the U.K. government for a decade to have the Prince of Darkness awarded a knighthood says her nomination is still under consideration.

Helen Maidiotis — whose Change.org petition for Ozzy has nearly 35,000 signatures as of this writing — recently received an encouraging letter from the U.K. Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Honours Team.

The letter confirmed that "Mr. Osbourne has been under consideration for an honour for a while" and while he has not been successful so far "his case remains under consideration at this time."

The letter continued that the department would "welcome" any "additional supporting information" regarding Ozzy's case for knighthood.

Maidiotis urged followers to "keep spreading the word" and push for more support for Ozzy.

While Ozzy may be infamous for the low points in his life, he's also a co-founder of one of the most influential rock bands of all-time in Black Sabbath and he's been a top-selling artist and cultural icon in his own right for more than 40 years.

Maidiotis argues that Ozzy is a proud example of success from working class roots in England, and his family has made generous contributions to causes and charities in the U.K. and abroad.
