Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer will holda live town hall Thursdayto give viewers a chance to ask questions about the coronavirus pandemic. Commercial and public TV stations in the Detroit area are teaming up to produce the show, which will be telecast from 7 to 8 p.m. EDT. Michigan is one of the states hit hardest by the coronavirus, with 259 deaths among more than 7,600 cases reported.

The U.S. topped 1,000 coronavirus deaths in a single day for the first time Wednesday, a daily death toll more than double that of two of America's most deadly illnesses – lung cancer and the flu.

The Ohio Department of Health announced receipt of Ohio's share of the national stockpile of personal protection equipment including 672,100 surgical masks, 271,450 respirator masks, 131,808 face shields, 493,575 gloves, 107,670 gowns, and 552 coveralls.

Many unemployed Ohioans are complaining about long wait times, poor service, and online connection problems with the state's unemployment bureau. A record 187,784 claims for benefits were filed for the week that ended March 21. Claims data for last week will be reported Thursday, but the state said the surge continues, with claims setting a record on one day.

President Trump said Wednesday he could not confirm the veracity of the numbers of coronavirus cases and deaths being reported by China, as he warned Americans to brace for more “horrific” days in dealing with the virus.

To slow the spread of the virus, Trump said his administration is weighing stopping domestic flights in the U.S.He also advised faith leaders against violating stay-at-home orders and holding services amid reports of some churches holding gatherings.
