Drunk History Halloween: Day 26 of the 31 Days of Hauntings

The Halloween that we know today was originally created to curb acts of vandalism. It's true! Elizabeth Kreb was sick of her house and garden getting trashed every single Halloween. Rather than scream at kids telling them to get off her lawn, she decided to take a different approach. Throw the rambunctious kids a party! That's right. Elizabeth thought if she kept the kids out late enough they'd be too tired to go out vandalizing. A lot of the traditions we grew up celebrating can be traced back to Elizabeth Kreb. But you know once a vandal, always a vandal. It's not going to work for everyone.
