Cabbie Sues New Orleans Over Arrest Stemming From Blackmail Claims

Posted April 11th, 2014 @ 5:04pm

A New Orleans cab driver is suing the city, claiming he was falsely arrested for allegedly trying to blackmail a lawyer and former radio personality. It's a bit of a complex story. The cabbie, Hervey Farrell, claims New Orleans police didn't question him over accusations of blackmail. Farrell picked up Jennifer Gaubert from Bourbon Street in April 2012 to give her a ride home. During the ride, the apparently drunken Gaubert hopped into the front seat and made sexual advances towards the driver. Farrell recorded the incident on this cell phone. Gaubert later told police Farrell had tried to extract money from her to keep the video from going public. The video has since entered the public record because it became evidence in the lawsuit. You could see why she may not have wanted this one to get out. Things are blurred out, so it is safe to watch at work.
