Linkin Park's greatest hits album Papercuts (Singles Collection 2000-2023) is here, and in addition to some of the band's biggest songs (and fan favorite rarities like "QWERTY,") it also features previously unreleased material that the group recorded before Chester Bennington's death in 2017. Mike Shinoda chatted with Revolver Magazine to celebrate the new album, and during the interview revealed if there's more Linkin Park music we have yet to hear.
"The answer is yes, but the asterisk is that in any band's batch of things they've recorded —demos and all of that — the vast majority of it is usually garbage," he confessed. "I think what fans want to know is how many things do we have that are going to get released, and that are good? I don't know what the answer to that is. We'll have to just wait and see."
When asked about the band's future, Shinoda gave a vague answer. "Rumors always go around. People always ask what's next for the band, and the best answer I can ever give anybody is when there's something to tell you, we will tell you," he said. "When there's an announcement to be made, it will be on LinkinPark.com. If you're hearing it from somebody else, you can trust that information as much as you want to trust it. [But] I love the guys, I still see them pretty regularly, and we have fun making stuff together. That's why Papercuts exists."
Speaking of rumors, Orgy's Jay Gordon recently let slip that he heard Linkin Park was planning to continue with a female singer. The band hasn't addressed his comments, so like Shinoda said, "we'll have to just wait and see."
