Gonorrhea On The Rise In Lucas County

(Toledo, OH) Cases of one particular sexually transmitted disease are on the rise in Lucas County.

According to the Lucas County Health Department, there have been just over 700 reported cases of gonorrhea so far this year, up from over 500 cases during this time last year, and about 425 cases in 2014.

That's a one-third increase in just one year, which is why health officials are sounding the alarm.  Those diagnosed with the disease may have only mild symptoms or even no symptoms at all.

The Lucas County Health Department recommends that anyone who may have been exposed to the STD by a partner seek immediate testing and treatment.
